The Red Sea Miracle documentary by Tim Mahoney is the latest in a series of award-winning documentaries. The Red Sea Miracle and Exodus came together very smoothly after Mahoney overcame a crisis of faith.

“You never know where a crisis of faith will lead you”.

It is the culmination of a lifetime of toil and struggle.

My goal is to spread the word, and do my bit. I really hope I do some people some good here.

Is the narrative in the Bible true or is it just a book of myths?

Professor Manfred Bietak Austian Archeologist

Tim Mahoney, from a young age, never had any doubts about the Bible, he believed in all of it.

In 2002 however, he visited Egypt as part of his research. He made his way up to an archeological dig site.  It was a difficult and stress-filled journey. When he asked the archeologist in charge, Professor Manfred Bietak, if he had found any evidence of the ancient Israelites who had supposedly dwelt there, the reply was, “So far, not.” Mahoney says that when he heard those words, “It was like being hit in the face with a [baseball] bat”, something had he had actually experienced once while playing as a catcher.

The room got cold

When he got back to his home in Minnesota very disheartened, and then he experienced a full-blown crisis of faith. While he was watching some footage he’d taken in Egypt, he turned to God and asked, “You have to explain this, what is the reason he’s saying there’s no evidence?” The room turned cold… a strange-sounding voice seemed to be speaking to him and he thought, “everything I have believed and everything my family has believed about the Bible is a lie.

Then another small voice came to him saying “Stop editing, get up, go to your office… go to the bookcase… read that book.” It was a book he had been given a few years ago by a friend but never got round to reading. It had been stuff in one of several bookcases and forgotten.

God had already set things up: that’s easy when you’re God

The dig site he had just come from was the subject of the book. The author of the book reasoned that archeologists were not finding anything because they were looking in the wrong time period.

The bible mentions a place called Rameses at the beginning of Exodus, and so that is what the archeologists were taking as their time reference. It was also the time of Ramesses II, they think.

The Bible however, also mentions a city called Rameses in the time of Joseph 200 years earlier, where his father Jacob and his brothers went to live. The author of the book Mahoney was looking at had uncovered archeological evidence of this.

Ramesses II
Genesis 47:11

Joseph obeyed the king’s orders and gave his father and brothers some of the best lands in Egypt near the city of Rameses.

Exodus 1.11

The Egyptians put slave bosses in charge of the people of Israel and tried to wear them down with hard work. Those bosses forced them to build the cities of Pithom and Rameses, where the king[ could store his supplies.

1.11 Pithom and Rameses: This is the only mention of Pithom in the Bible; its exact location is unknown, though it was probably in the northern Delta of Egypt. Rameses is the famous Delta city that was the home of Rameses II; its exact location is also unknown (CEV footnotes)

It occurs to me as I write that this documentary would have given a whole lot of authentic historicity to Biblical events, but was stopped in its tracks and smothered by the hysteria of COVID 19. Certainly the screening of part 2.

Tim Mahoney says that the documentary shows the first evidence ever of events that took place took place in the Bible around the time of Moses.

Remember the Bible as we know it wasn’t assembled till well after the time of  Jesus.

Apparently snippets of evidence have been around for quite a while, but have not been made widely known or brought together to form a bigger picture.

This documentary will do that says Mahoney (if it ever sees the light of day).

According to Mahoney the film will show evidence of the world’s first-ever alphabet, and came about in Moses’ time.

He says that around 22 hieroglyphs were chosen and modified to become what we know as letters.

The example he demonstrates is an upside-down “A”, which was the “bull” hieroglyph. It was inverted and became what we now know as the letter A.

This has great significance because it explains why the first 5 books of the Bible had not been written prior to Moses.

Dear reader, you must be thunderstruck. Moses was the first prophet of God with the ability to write down eye witness accounts.

Why was Moses up the mountain alone with God so long? Jesus was telling the story of the world, to the first Israelite capable of writing it all down. It all falls into place.

Jesus?! many might ask. Well Jesus was also the one who said ” Let there be light” because Jesus is the Word of God. Furthermore, Jesus who is God became a man in order to give himself as a sacrifice, the only human ever, acceptable to do such a thing. Consider:

  • There is no remission of sin without the shedding of innocent blood
  • Animal sacrifices were only ever a temporary appeasement
  • Cain thought grain should be good enough but he was wrong

Jesus died and then rose again from the dead because He was innocent.

He did this so all mankind might find a way back to God, after what Adam and Eve had done.

They had sold out to the devil. You can be equal to God he told them. A good piece of salesmanship that, hook line and sinker. The greatest con in history. Then he set about persuading people that he didn’t exist.

God-given talents

Tim Mahoney has taken his God-given talents and put all his might into turning people back to a path toward God.

Christianity is the only faith that promises people they can be with God, see Him face to face, and talk with Him and have fellowship with Him. A big loving dad.

The Koran, for example,, gives no such assurance, neither does Buddism. And no other religious figure ever rose from the dead. They are all still dead, including Mohamad – well isn’t it true?

Tim Mahoney’s films

He starts off with the word of God and asks, what does it say? What is it telling us? And can we find evidence for what it says?

For example, Moses, while protecting some Jews, kills a man and then flees to the land of Midian. Then God tells him to go back to Egypt and bring His people back to a mountain in Midian.

God replied, “I will be with you. And you will know that I am the one who sent you, when you worship me on this mountain after you have led my people out of Egypt.”(Exodus 3.12)

So where exactly is mount Sinai? This is a question Mahoney addresses in the film.

Locating Mt Sinai will be a vital clue that telling Mahoney which direction Moses was heading when he and the Israelites left Egypt. It will indicate a probable point at which they crossed the Red Sea.

Pharaoh had changed his mind, the Egyptian army was coming, there was no time to go around.

But God had a cunning plan. The best one since “Let there be light”.

After the Egyptian army was drowned,

Exodus 21 Moses stretched his arm over the sea, and the Lord sent a strong east wind that blew all night until there was dry land where the water had been. The sea opened up, and the Israelites walked through on dry land with a wall of water on each side.

The Egyptian chariots and cavalry went after them. But before daylight the Lord looked down at the Egyptian army from the fiery cloud and made them panic. Their chariot wheels got stuck, and it was hard for them to move. So the Egyptians said to one another, “Let’s leave these people alone! The Lord is on their side and is fighting against us.”

The Lord told Moses, “Stretch your arm toward the sea—the water will cover the Egyptians and their cavalry and chariots.” Moses stretched out his arm, and at daybreak the water rushed toward the Egyptians. They tried to run away, but the Lord drowned them in the sea. The water came and covered the chariots, the cavalry, and the whole Egyptian army that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them was left alive. But the sea had made a wall of water on each side of the Israelites; so they walked through on dry land.

On that day, when the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the shore, they knew that the Lord had saved them. Because of the mighty power he had used against the Egyptians, the Israelites worshiped him and trusted him and his servant Moses.

the fear of God took off like the wind and spread throughout the whole world. Rehab said as much to Joshua many years later.

Remember God, remember how He got the Israelites out of Egypt.

Tim Mahoney’s mission is to remind people of what the Bible says. People so easily forget and dismiss what they hear these days. The thing we learn from history is that we don’t learn from history. We have a generation emerging who think the bible is just an antiquated book of not very interesting irrelevant myths.

This documentary is not available anywhere yet as far as I know, but Exodus is.
